We have received the following from Carmen Álvarez Escandel:

Carmen Álvarez Escandell: “El cantoral E-Zac, C-3 Ms 18 de Zaragoza, con obras de Morales, Guerrero, Victoria, Pujol y Berges.” Cuadernos de Investigación Musical 14 (enero-junio 2022): 115-187. Available online.

During the course of cataloging a songbook kept in the Music Archive of the Cathedrals of Zaragoza (E-Zac, C-3 Ms 18, RISM ID no. 1001098291), one of the pieces contained in the book caught our attention: among the twelve compositions of the codex is the only known copy of the “Letanía de Nuestra Señora” by the Catalan composer Joan Pujol (1570-1626). The piece, written for two choirs and instrumental accompaniment, was previously unpublished. A transcription in modern notation is proposed in this recently published article. The research also provides new information on the life of the composer during his time in Zaragoza, where he had the opportunity to show his pieces to the entourage of Felipe II, who spent time in the city and whose devotion to the Virgen del Pilar has been documented.
