RISM at the International Musicological Society Congress in Tokyo

RISM will be represented at the 20th Congress of the International Musicological Society in Tokyo next week, from March 19 to March 23, 2017. The theme of the congress is Musicology: Theory and Practice, East and West. The IMS, along with IAML, co-sponsors the 4 R projects (RISM, RILM, RIdIM, and RIPM).

The 4Rs Joint Session

Klaus Keil will join our colleagues at the other R projects to introduce and give updates about RISM. If you’re curious about RISM, come for an overview of our activities, and if you’re already familiar with RISM, come hear what services we offer scholars around the world.
RISM Session: Research Tool(s) for Source Studies

Andrea Lindmayr-Brandl (Universität Salzburg) will first present the project Music Printing in German-speaking Lands: Studies in Technical and Repertoire Development. This is a scholarly project to document early printed music north of the Alps.
Klaus Keil and Jennifer Ward of the RISM Central Office will give a talk entitled “The RISM Online Catalog and Beyond: Using, Reusing, and Contributing RISM Data in Musicological Projects.” The presentation will show musicologists how to get the most out of the RISM data through effective searching—also useful for those who teach the RISM catalog to students—and also how musicologists can collaborate with RISM when they embark upon source-oriented research.
This is the first IMS congress in Asia. We look forward to seeing you there!
