Fontes Artis Musicae (no. 70/2) recently published the article ‘The Cataloguing Process of the ‘C Collection’ in the Music Archive of the Cathedrals of Zaragoza’ by Carmen Álvarez-Escandell. The article outlines the process of cataloguing a collection of 30 polyphonic lectern books preserved in the Cathedrals of Zaragoza, Spain (RISM library siglum: E-Zac, RISM Catalog | RISM Online).
This is an important collection of books from the 16th to 19th centuries, and they hold sacred vocal music written by composers such as Cristóbal de Morales, Tomás Luis de Victoria, Alonso Lobo, and Sebastián Aguilera de Heredia, among others. Most of the books are manuscript but there are some interesting prints. In addition, the ‘C-Collection’ has an important number of anonymous pieces, a total of 182. This article outlines the process to identify as many as possible, eventually identifying 42 composers of those pieces.
All of that information resulted in 423 new entries in RISM, and now they are available in our database.

La revista Fontes Artis Musicae (Nº70/2) publicó recientemente el artículo ‘The Cataloguing Process of the ‘C Collection’ in the Music Archive of the Cathedrals of Zaragoza’ de Carmen Álvarez-Escandell, un artículo que explica de primera mano cómo ha sido el proceso de catalogación del fondo de polifonía, conocido como ‘Fondo C’, del Archivo de Música de las Catedrales de Zaragoza (Sigla de la biblioteca RISM: E-Zac, RISM Catalog | RISM Online).
Se trata de un importante fondo de música vocal formado por treinta libros de atril que van desde el siglo XVI al XIX, incluye obras de compositores entre los que se incluyen Cristóbal de Morales, Tomás Luis de Victoria, Alonso Lobo o Sebastián Aguilera de Heredia. El ‘Fondo C’, compuesto en su mayoría por códices manuscritos pero con algún interesante impreso, cuenta además con un gran número de piezas anónimas, un total de 182 piezas que, en este artículo, se han tratado de identificar, consiguiendo dar a conocer la autoría de 42 de ellas.
