Thursday, December 13, 2018

The live recording of the 29th Tyrolean Christmas Concert from 2017 has just been released as the CD Klingende Kostbarkeiten aus Tirol, vol. 101, by the Institute for Tyrolean Music Research. One outstanding musical Tyrolean treasure is Silent Night in a version by the famous Tyrolean singers Geschwister Strasser from a manuscript held in Stams Monastery (A-ST Mus.ms. 198, RISM ID no. 650004799).

In addition, you can hear Christmas music of the 18th and 19th centuries from Tyrolean music archives in first recordings from the Franciscan monasteries Kaltern (I-CALDf) and Reutte (A-RTf), the cathedral chapter archive in Brixen (I-BREd), and the Tyrolean State Museum Ferdinandeum in Innsbruck (A-Imf).

More information about the CDs can be found here.
